This is an old CGI video, but since 2.0 brought many thousands of new players, I wanted to share this with all of you. This was the original vision behind the concept of Leves. A mission based design for parties and groups that worked similarly to the missions in PSO or bounties in games like Monster Hunter. The idea would be that there were many of these, and would be small engagements that you could run with anyone.
These are in the game, but I feel they're under utilized, while relying entirely too much on Fate to carry a similar mechanic. I love Fates, and I think they have a huge place in FFXIV and I want to see it expand and grow and become the great system it is and should be, but I also desire this for Guildhests which I feel have been merely relegated to tutorials for instances, when they could really be something more.
A great example is the Lightning fate, which while good, is often simply zerged and the experience is mired by the ridiculous number of players decimating the enemy. It has gotten to the point many can not even tag the monster in question before it even perishes. I think a Guildhest would have given players a real opportunity to intimately experience Lightning. Listen to the music, the voice, the battle cries. Stop and watch it unfold. They could have added cutscenes, or different engagements and scripts. Everyone would have had a chance to experience it once, maybe more.
I want to see this old idea developed. I'd like to see daily cycling Leves and Hests for solo play and for groups. I'd like to see an alternative to Fates for those who desire a more robust, if perhaps still slower route to 50. It's not just a matter of making the xp worthwhile elsewhere, it's making the experience worthwhile as well.
I'd like to see this vision come to life. 1.0 didn't have the execution to make it happen. Nowhere near. 2.0 has the foundation to do so, the current game feels more like this little trailer than 1.0 ever did. Let's go all the way SE. I know you can. ♥
