The colors are based on an RBG scale and the fruit increases or decreases each individual value. I've also learned a few other things reading.

Don't take your choco out early before the 6 hours. They will cancel if you do.

You can feed your choco more than one berry at a time. I learned this the hard way lol. You may want to space out each color to see where it's going and required berries

Soot black has been confirmed and seen myself. Theory only but I believe you have to increase the RBG in the same intervals but each color needs to be separated out.

RNG (yay…) may also play a factor.
