Thanks to the help of Xannder and Hitaru, we were able to implement the XIVDB Tooltip JS into the site. If you want to link a particular item with a tooltip it's as simple as pasting the link from XIVDB into the dialogue box when posting:

No need to use the Hyperlink or Code functions when posting, just paste the link as it is above. This is what will happen if you paste the direct link:
